Secondary packaging is the packaging of one or more items into one external pack. For example, multiple foil blister packs are contained by one printed unit carton, or a bottle of medicine which is presented in a cardboard box with a Consumer Medical Information leaflet. Secondary packaging is also used to hold multiple boxes of a product which is shipped to a retail outlet. In some cases the secondary packaging also doubles as the point-of-sales device that presents the consumer pack on the retail shelf.
